Two Webster County Teachers Selected for Professional Learning Opportunities

Two Webster County educators, Rachel Hubbard and Preston Hill, have been selected to participate in social studies professional learning opportunities.

Rachel Hubbard, a WCMS social studies teacher, has been selected to participate in the McConnell Teacher Scholars Program at the University of Louisville, a selective professional development program for Kentucky educators that focuses on deepening our understanding of American history and civic ideas. Throughout the year, she will engage in seminars and discussions with scholars while studying primary sources and foundational documents. This year’s theme centers on the United States' Semiquincentennial, with a focus on the core documents and ideas that have shaped our nation since its founding. The program offers a unique learning experience while also building a strong network of educators committed to civic education, emphasizing deep content knowledge and thoughtful discussion.

Both Hubbard and Preston Hill, a WCHS English and social studies teacher, have been selected to attend the Teaching Kentucky History Institute professional learning program this summer, sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society. This five-day program provides immersive, content-rich training in early Kentucky history, professional networking, and historical site exploration in and around Frankfort, including the Kentucky History Center & Museums, Liberty Hall Historic Site, Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Historic Locust Grove, Frazier History Museum, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, and Ashland: The Henry Clay Estate.
